No brand pays to appear here

This site is not sponsored by any brand. No position in a ranking is for sale, no payment is accepted to appear in a comparison or to move up one, and no brand sees a page before it is published. Every product on this site is here because it met the criteria set out on that page.

How the rankings are decided

Every comparison page lists the criteria it ranks on, and those criteria are applied identically to every product on the page. They vary between categories, because what decides a top coat is not what decides a dust extractor, but within a page they do not move. Typical criteria are price per millilitre or gram with VAT included, size, published formulation, cure time, removal method, shade or size range, stock on the day, warranty and how easy the retailer is to buy from. This is desk research, not laboratory testing. We compare what brands publish and verify it against UK retailers. We have not tested these products against each other in controlled conditions and we never say we have.

Outbound links

• None of our outbound links is paid. They are reference links, provided so you can check our prices and specifications for yourself, and they carry rel="nofollow".
• Links carry tracking parameters that identify Nail Tech Guide as the referring site. That lets a retailer see where a visit came from. It earns us nothing and it does not change what you pay.
• If we ever join an affiliate programme, the affected links will be marked rel="sponsored", the commission will be disclosed on the product itself, and this page will be updated and re-dated before the change goes live.

How prices and availability are checked

• Every price is in pounds sterling and includes VAT.
• Where a UK trade supplier displays prices excluding VAT, we convert at the standard 20 per cent rate, name the retailer and show the original figure.
• Each product names the retailer its price came from, and every page is dated.
• Stock is recorded on the day of checking. Where a product or a shade was unavailable, we say so on the product rather than quietly leaving it out.
• Where a listed price looks like clearance rather than a standing price, we flag it and suggest checking a second stockist.

Our commitments

• Limitations are compulsory on every product, including whichever one came first.
• Information we could not verify is flagged as unverified rather than presented as fact.
• Manufacturer claims are attributed to the manufacturer, and kept separate from our own analysis.
• Every price and stock check is dated.

Information changes after we publish

Prices move, brands reformulate, product lines are discontinued and stock runs out. Anything on this site can be out of date by the time you read it, and the date on each page is there so you can judge how much to trust it. Always check the current price, size and formulation on the retailer's own page before you order.

What we will not do

• Sell ranking positions or accept payment to appear.
• Invent prices, review scores, certifications, test results or specifications.
• Publish fake reviews or testimonials.
• Claim a product has been tested by Nail Tech Guide when it has not, or use language such as "test winner" that implies a test we did not run.
